Description
140-142 Wandsworth High Street is a pair of cottages dating from the mid to late 18th century. The buildings are constructed of brick and feature slated gambrel roofs at the eaves. They are two storeys high and each cottage has a double front with three bays. The central entrance of No 142 has a square-headed doorcase and a surviving hood, while No 140 has a 19th-century shop entrance and fascia located in the centre and to the right. Both cottages have square-headed windows with plate glass sashes and casemented square-headed dormers. Large stacks are present at the gables. No 142 retains its internal layout and features, including a newel staircase, planked doors with some original ironmongery, simple woodwork such as architraves, some fireplaces, and some panelling.
