Description
35 and 37 West Hill is a pair of late 13th century houses that are structurally separate, each one bay wide facing the road and three bays deep on the side. They have a basement, two stories, and dormer windows. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, with No 35 being partly painted, and feature a hipped slate roof.
No 35 has a recessed single-storey entrance bay with a round-arched door that is now closed, along with a fanlight that has a radiating pattern. The entrance bay of No 37 has been altered. The main front of the houses is framed by flat giant piers. There is a basement plinth with a gauged cambered-arch window, although this has been altered in No 37. The ground floor features a tripartite window adorned with delicate acanthus pilasters, a frieze, and a dentil cornice. The first-floor window is similar but has a gauged cambered arch above it and a fan motif in the spandrel, which has been removed from No 35. The parapet has stone coping, and there is a flat-headed dormer. The chimneys have oversailing courses.
