Description

Nos. 29 and 31, West Hill, are a pair of mid-18th century houses with alterations made in the early 19th century. They are arranged over a basement, two storeys, and have dormers, with each house being symmetrical and five windows wide on the first floor. The houses are constructed of stock brick with stone dressings and a slate gambrel roof; No. 31 is now painted. The ground floor has tripartite windows with delicate acanthus pilasters, a frieze, and a dentil cornice. The first-floor windows are similarly styled but with a gauged cambered arch above and a fan motif in the spandrel (this feature has been removed from No. 35). A stone coping runs along the parapet. The dormers are flat-headed. The chimney stacks have oversailing courses.
