Description
King John's Cottages is a pair of cottages located on Mythe Road in Tewkesbury, dating from the early to mid-18th century. They are constructed of painted brick with tile roofs and brick stacks. The cottages are one storey high with an attic and feature one window on each side. No. 2 has a broad two-light casement gabled dormer above a three-light window, while No. 3 has a two-light horizontal-sliding sash window, with an additional single light to the right of its doorway. No. 3 has a good plank door and a 19th-century flush panel door. The cottages are slightly set forward from No. 1 and set back from No. 4. Each cottage has a gabled back wing. The interiors have not been inspected. These cottages are a notable surviving example of modest 18th-century architecture, likely originally built with a one-room plan and rear services.
