Description
No. 1 Mythe Road is a house located at the end of a row, dating from the 17th century. It features a square panel timber frame with brick nogging and a tiled roof, along with a brick stack. This long cottage was formerly two separate homes and has a jettied short return at the eastern end. The building is two storeys high and has two windows. The windows are all 20th-century replacement small-paned casements. On the ground floor, the left side has a long casement with a deep-set glazed door, all beneath a continuous wood drip, and there is a central 19th-century plank door. The end gable with the jetty has a two-light window in the attic and a doubled two-light window on the first floor, while the ground floor features a small two-light window in brick. A large central ridge stack made of 17th-century brick is present. The back of the house includes an early two-light casement on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected, but the light scantling of the timber frame suggests a later 17th-century date, similar to No. 2 Mythe Road.
