Description
1 and 3 Blakesley Hill are a pair of cottages dating from the 18th century. They are constructed from painted coursed rubble and feature roofs made of corrugated iron and asbestos, with brick ridge and end stacks. Each cottage has a two-unit plan and is two stories high with a three-window range.
No. 1, located on the left, has a plank door with a timber lintel, flanked by two old two-light casement windows, also with timber lintels. There is a similar smaller window on the first floor to the right. No. 3 has a 20th-century door with timber lintels and two-light 20th-century casements in the original openings on both the ground and first floors, along with a two-story, one-window extension to the right. Both cottages were originally thatched, but the eaves were raised in brick when the thatch was removed.
Inside, No. 1 features a fine open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer and stop-chamfered spine beams.
