Description

This is a house located on the east side of Bengal Lane in Greas Norton. It was built in 1715, with alterations to the roof in the 19th century. The house is constructed of coursed squared limestone with a slate roof and brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan and is arranged over two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. A central part-glazed door is protected by a 20th-century timber porch and sits beneath a stone lintel. A datestone made of ironstone is positioned above the door, inscribed with "N/TM/1715." A Sun Fire Insurance plaque, number 763703, is above the datestone. The ground and first floors have old three-light casement windows, with the ground floor windows featuring H and HL hinges. All windows have timber lintels. The corners of the building are quoined, and the gables are stone-coped with kneelers. A single-storey extension is attached to the right side. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a cambered, chamfered bressumer that features diamond stops.
