Description
The monument to Anne Burgess is a tomb chest located in Dulwich Old Burial Ground, dated 1808. It features a plain stone chest set on a brick plinth. The chest is surrounded by spearheaded railings, with the corner uprights topped by thick, bulbous spears. The returns to the base have blocked segmental-arched openings. This monument is situated towards the center of the burial ground, just west of the Kingsley tomb. The burial ground itself was consecrated in 1616 and is notable for not being located next to any church or chapel. This monument is part of a group that includes the 18th-century gates, walls, and railings of Dulwich Old Burial Ground.
