Description

The Burge monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 11 metres south of the south transept of the Church of All Saints. It dates from the 18th century and is made of Doulting stone. The tomb features a moulded base on a stepped plinth, with plain flanks and sides. It has an Adam style frieze and a thin moulded flat top. The monument commemorates members of the Burge family, with inscriptions that have eroded over time, but the death dates of 1767 and 1798 can still be deciphered on the south side.
