185 And 187, Camberwell New Road

185 and 187 Camberwell New Road are two houses built around 1830. They are constructed of brick in Flemish bond, with painted stucco on the basement and a mansard roof covered in slate. The houses are two storeys high and each has three windows, with the outer windows set back. Each house features one dormer. The entrance to each house is accessed by a short flight of steps and is flanked by quarter columns, topped with a semicircular fanlight, although the ornamental glazing is no longer present. Most openings are flat-arched, except for the segmental-arched basement windows which contain 3x3 sash windows. The first-floor windows have 6x6 sashes, while the second-floor windows are similar in design to those of No. 187. The dormers have casement windows. The party wall is visible above the roof, and there is a heavy rectangular chimney stack on the party wall. The windows have gauged brick lintels, and the round entrance arches are made of soft brick. The interior has not been inspected.
