House. Dated 1833 on stucco cement plaque below parapet; flanking plaques with incised lettering give the name as `Clifton Cottage'. Brick in Flemish bond with painted stucco to basement, springing and sill bands, cornice, and entrance aedicule. Roof parapeted. 2 storeys over basement. 3-window range, the centre blocked, all set within shallow, basket-arched recesses that are linked by a sill and springing band. Elevation bilaterally symmetrical about the entrance which is set within rusticated aedicule with round-arched recess. Flanking ground-floor windows are also round-arched and have glazing bars of authentic design, 8x8 with top sash bars forming Georgian Y-tracery. These windows and entrance aedicule are linked by a springing band. Sashes of original 8x8 design to the end range windows, 1st floor. Soft rubbed brick to basket and round arches; gauged brick to 1st-floor window lintels. INTERIOR: not inspected.
