Description

Numbers 211, 213, and 215 comprise a group of three houses dating to the early 19th century. Numbers 211 and 213 feature painted stucco on the ground floor and basement, while Number 215 has stucco on the basement only; the remaining front wall surfaces are brick in a Flemish bond pattern. A stucco cornice band runs along the parapets of Numbers 211 and 213; Number 215 has a plain stucco parapet.

The houses are three stories tall, with a basement level, and each has two windows. Numbers 211 and 213 have entrances reached by a short flight of steps, recessed within a porch framed by a Tuscan aedicule, positioned at the outer corners of the pair. A moulded architrave with console-supported cornice adorns the ground-floor window beside each entrance. A sill band emphasizes the first-floor windows which have a moulded, eared architrave. Number 215 has flush stucco architraves surrounding the openings, a round-arched entrance set within the right-party wall, and a round-arched window to the left of this. All upper-floor openings in this unit are flat-arched.

The windows are 2x2 sashes with margin lights in Numbers 211 and 213, except for the ground-floor window of Number 213. Number 215 has 6x6 sashes on the second floor. A narrow recess on the party wall between Numbers 211 and 213 emphasizes the bilateral symmetry of this pair. Number 215, while similar in dimension and date, was originally less elaborate in appearance, although it still contributes positively to the group.

The interior of the properties has not been inspected. Numbers 211 and 213 retain wrought-iron handrails in a 19th-century style on the front steps and enclosing the front area. They also have shallow iron balcony fronts of 19th-century design on the first-floor windows.
