Description
Victoria House at Number 84 is a villa built in 1840 by Thomas Cubitt, which was once leased to Sir William Napier. The building has been somewhat altered and consists of three storeys and a basement, featuring three windows. It is constructed of stucco with incised lines and has a low-pitched slated roof with end chimney walls and a central raised, glazed small attic. The eaves soffit is adorned with modillions. The windows have moulded architraves, with some being sash and others casement. The first-floor windows feature cornices and segmental pediments. There is a projecting canted bay on the ground floor to the left, and a central projecting enclosed porch with pilasters, an entablature, and a balustrade. The entrance includes a half-glazed door with sidelights and a large rectangular fanlight, accessed by five steps flanked by tall cast iron lampholders. This house was formerly the residence of music-hall star Vesta Victoria.
