Description
Hyde House is a villa built in 1856 by Charles Aldin. It has three storeys and a basement, featuring three windows on the front. The building is constructed of stock brick and has a stucco frieze and cornice. The roof has a moderate pitch and is slated, with end chimney walls. The sash windows, mostly with glazing bars, are set in moulded architraves and are complemented by panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a console bracketed cornice above the ground and first floor windows, which also have bracketed cills. Access to the house is via nine steps, flanked by side walls, leading to an enclosed classical porch. The entrance features a four-panel door with sidelights and a rectangular fanlight. The ground floor displays vermiculate stucco quoins, and there is a string course at the first floor level. A later extension has been added to the south.
