Description

This is a substantial mid-19th century villa, built by Thomas Cubitt. It is three storeys high with a basement, and originally had three windows. The low-pitched, slated roof has a deep soffit with modillion detailing above a moulded cornice. The villa is constructed of stucco. The window architraves are moulded, with cornices on the first and ground floors. Ground floor cornices sit on projecting cills supported by console brackets. The sash windows had glazing bars, although these are missing from the ground floor. A long casement window in the centre of the first floor opens onto a balustraded balcony above a prostyle Doric porch featuring square columns and filled sides. The four-panel front door, flanked by pilasters, has a rectangular fanlight containing a glazed lampholder. The rear elevation is similar, with a balustraded staircase leading to a French door on the left side. A ground floor band runs across the rear, and there are blind cases on the ground floor.
