Description

Abbey Gate House is an early 19th century villa located on Abbey Mill Lane. This three-storey building is finished in stucco and features three windows across its facade, with some alterations made over time. It has a low-pitched, hipped slate roof with deep eaves.

The villa showcases sash windows with glazing bars on the first and second floors, with the rightmost windows being two-light. There are decorative bands at the second floor level and at the cills of the first floor. The second floor windows have plain reveals, while the first floor windows are adorned with moulded architraves, friezes, and cornices. The left-hand ground floor window has a plain reveal but has been replaced, while the right-hand window is a modern canted bay.

A projecting central porch features pilasters and a cornice, leading to a round-arched door with a radial fanlight. The inner door has panelled reveals with a reeded cornice head and a patterned fanlight above. The building also has a stuccoed plinth.
