North Block St Albans School

North Block at St Albans School is an early 20th-century building constructed from flint, with random red and yellow bricks and stone dressings. It features a battlemented parapet above a cornice and a brick-only plinth. The building is two storeys high and has five windows, which are three-light, stone-mullioned, leaded casements. The first-floor windows are set beneath square hoodmoulds, except for the central window, which has tracery under a four-centred arch.

On the ground floor, there is a central, projecting, battlemented stone porch that contains a door under a four-centred arch with a hoodmould. The cornice of the porch continues with a string course above the ground floor windows. The building is supported by stepped, diagonal buttresses with stone quoins at the corners, and there are also stone diagonal buttresses at the angles of the porch.

This building, along with the Abbey Gate and other St Albans School structures, forms a cohesive group.
