Description
Nos 138 and 140 on New Park Road, built in 1835 by William Eicke, are a pair of houses designed in a modified Gothic style. They each have two storeys and a basement, with three irregularly placed windows. The exterior is finished in stucco with incised lines, topped by high-pitched slated roofs featuring several gables, some of which have decorative carved and pierced bargeboards. The windows consist of one or two light small paned casements set in double chamfered reveals beneath hoodmoulds. No 138 features a panelled door with studded rails in a Tudor arched doorway, which is located under a hoodmould in a projecting one-storey battlemented bay supported by diagonal buttresses. No 140 has a modern door set in a gabled wood porch, which may be an addition, and displays some half-timbering in its gables.
