Description

62A Elder Road is a lodge built in 1887, as indicated by a date on a lintel. This irregular building has two storeys and three bays, with a one-storey porch on the left. It is constructed of stock brick, featuring dressings of red brick, stone, and stucco. The hipped roof is slated and has a moulded and coved pebble-dashed eaves cornice, which is interrupted in two places by baroque gable ends above the first-floor windows. The windows are moulded and transomed casements, adorned with elaborate stucco lintels set under relieving arches. A red brick string course on the first floor serves as the cornice for the open porch, which is supported by three balusters on a half-wall to the left, while a wrought-iron gate is located on the right.
