Description

The Tomb of Thomas Cubitt is located in West Norwood Memorial Park, off Norwood Road. It dates from around 1855 and is designed in a simple style. The tomb features a slab vault cover made of dark grey granite, which is inscribed and rectangular in shape. Surrounding the tomb is a holly hedge. Thomas Cubitt was a significant figure in architectural history, known as the originator of modern building contracting, and he was responsible for the development of areas such as Belgravia, Pimlico, and Clapham Park.
