Description
The Tomb of John Stevens, located in West Norwood Memorial Park, is a Grade II obelisk monument dating from around 1861. It was designed by Anderson & McKenzie of Aberdeen and is made of grey granite. The tomb features a square plan with a stepped base that supports an inscribed pedestal with battered sides and incised pediments. The obelisk itself is finely decorated with bands of guilloche, palmettes, and a fret pattern. John Stevens was an engineer known for inventing and patenting semaphore signals.
