Description
This is an early 19th century terrace of houses, numbered 117 to 141 on the east side of Brixton Road. Originally listed as numbers 117 to 137, the terrace consists of a row of dwellings, each with three storeys and a basement, and a two-window frontage. The majority of the buildings are constructed of stock brick, topped with a parapet. Number 127 has been stuccoed, with ground-floor rustications that create the appearance of window voussoirs. Numbers 117 to 125 have later slate mansard roofs with dormers. Stucco cill bands are visible on the first and second floors. The sash windows have glazing bars, and their ground floor openings are elliptical headed, set within elliptical arched recesses using gauged brick arches. Cast iron balconies with an anthemion pattern are situated on the first floor. The doorways are six-panel affairs, featuring fluted quadrant pilasters, a cornice head, and patterned fanlights, all set beneath an elliptical gauged brick arch.
