Description
No. 31 is a detached house built in 1862, located in Holland Park. The building is constructed of stucco and stands three storeys high, with an attic and basement. It has three symmetrical bays, arranged in a 1:1:1 pattern, and features channelling on the ground floor. A set of steps leads to the central entrance, which is flanked by Doric half columns. Above the steps is a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy.
On either side of the entrance, there are two-storey canted bay windows, each supported by Corinthian pilasters on the upper storey. The outer windows on the second floor also have pilasters. A small balustraded balcony is present at the central window, and the building is topped with a rich cornice and a balustraded parapet that incorporates three dormers, with the outer two being remodelled and featuring chimney outlets. Additionally, there are cast iron balconies on the ground floor. This house is part of the planned layout of Holland Park.
