Description

No. 5, Holland Park is a detached house built in 1862 as part of the planned layout for Holland Park. The house is constructed of stucco and has three storeys, an attic, and a basement. It is three bays wide, arranged symmetrically as 1:1:1. The ground floor features channelling. Steps lead to a central entrance, now with a modern, pedimented doorway, and a projecting balcony above. Two-storey canted bay windows flank the central bay, each featuring Corinthian pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters are also present on the outer windows of the second floor, and a small balustraded balcony sits centrally. A rich cornice runs around the building, topped by a balustraded parapet incorporating three dormers; the outer two have pediments, and the central dormer has chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are situated on the ground floor.
