Description
No. 4 Holland Park is a detached house built in 1862 as part of the planned layout of Holland Park. The house is constructed of stucco, with three storeys, an attic, and a basement. It has a symmetrical facade of three bays. The ground floor is characterised by channelled detailing. Steps lead to the central entrance, which now has a modern pedimented doorway and a projecting balcony above. Two-storey canted bay windows flank the front, featuring Corinthian pilasters on the upper level. Pilasters also define the outer windows on the second floor, and a small balustraded balcony sits above the central window. The house has a rich cornice and a balustraded parapet, incorporating three dormers; the two outer dormers are pedimented, while the central one includes chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor.
