Description

No. 26 Holland Park is a detached house built in 1862 as part of the planned layout for Holland Park. The house is constructed of stucco, with three storeys, an attic, and a basement. The symmetrical facade is three bays wide, arranged 1:1:1. The ground floor is characterised by channelling. Steps lead to a central entrance flanked by Doric half columns, topped with an elaborate wrought and cast iron canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows are on either side, featuring Corinthian pilasters on the upper storey. Pilasters also appear on the outer windows of the second floor, and a small balustraded balcony is situated in front of the central window. The building has a rich cornice and a balustraded parapet, incorporating three dormers: the outer two are pedimented, while the central one includes chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor.
