Description
No. 86 is a detached house built in 1862 as part of the planned layout of Holland Park. It is constructed of stucco and stands three storeys high with an attic and basement. The house is symmetrical, three bays wide in a 1:1:1 arrangement. The ground floor is characterised by channelling. Steps lead to a central entrance framed by Doric half columns, surmounted by an elaborate wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows flank the entrance, each incorporating Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters also define the outer windows on the second floor. A small balustraded balcony is positioned in front of the central second-floor window. The house features a rich cornice and a balustraded parapet that incorporates three dormers; the two outer dormers have pediments, while the central dormer includes chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor.
