Description
No. 85 Holland Park is a detached house built in 1862. It is constructed of stucco and has three storeys, an attic, and a basement. The building is three bays wide, arranged symmetrically as 1:1:1. The ground floor is characterized by channelling. A central entrance is accessed by steps, sheltered by a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows are located on each side, featuring Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters are also present on the outer windows of the second floor. A small balustraded balcony is situated above the central window. The house has a rich cornice and a balustraded parapet incorporating three dormers; the two outer dormers have pediments, and the central dormer features chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor. The property was designed as part of the planned layout of Holland Park.
