Description

This is a detached house built in 1862, part of the planned layout of Holland Park. It is constructed of stucco and has three storeys, an attic, and a basement. The house is three bays wide, arranged symmetrically as 1:1:1. The ground floor is characterised by channelled decoration. A central entrance is approached by steps, sheltered by a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows project on either side, featuring Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters also define the outer windows on the second floor. A small balustraded balcony is located above the central window. A rich cornice runs along the top of the house, followed by a balustraded parapet incorporating three dormers – the outer two with pediments, and the central one with chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor.
