Description

This is a detached house built in 1862, situated within the planned layout of Holland Park. The house is constructed of stucco with three storeys and an attic, over a basement. It has a symmetrical façade of three bays. The ground floor is characterised by channelled detailing, and leads to a central entrance with steps sheltered by a wrought and cast-iron canopy featuring Doric half columns. Two-storey canted bay windows flank the central entrance, each with Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters also frame the outer windows on the second floor. A small balustraded balcony is positioned before the central window on the second floor. The house features a rich cornice and a balustraded parapet incorporating three dormers; the outer two are pedimented, while the central one includes chimney outlets. Cast-iron balconies are present on the ground floor.

The interior retains a remarkable number of original features, including marble and wooden fireplaces – notably an unusual small fireplace located below the main staircase – along with original plasterwork, doors, door surrounds, and cupboards, especially within the basement. A later conservatory has been added to the rear of the property.
