Description

No. 61 Holland Park is a detached house built in 1862, constructed of stucco. The house is three storeys high, with an attic and basement, and is arranged symmetrically with a three-bay facade (1:1:1). The ground floor features channelling, leading to a central entrance with steps flanked by Doric half columns, sheltered by a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows are situated on either side, incorporating Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters are also present on the outer windows of the second floor, and a small balustraded balcony is attached to the central window. A rich cornice tops the building, and a balustraded parapet incorporates three dormers; the two outer dormers have been replaced while the central dormer has been retained, with chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are located on the ground floor. The house was built as part of the planned layout of Holland Park.
