Description

No. 63, Holland Park is a detached house dating from 1862, built of stucco. It is three storeys high with an attic and basement. The house has a symmetrical facade, three bays wide in a 1:1:1 arrangement. The ground floor is channelled. A central entrance is accessed via steps with a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows flank the central entrance, each featuring Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters are also present on the outer windows of the second floor. A small balustraded balcony is positioned in front of the central second-floor window. The building is topped with a rich cornice and a balustraded parapet that incorporates three dormers; the outer two are pedimented, while the central one has chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are located on the ground floor. The house was constructed as part of the planned layout for Holland Park.
