Description

This is a detached house built in 1862 as part of the planned development of Holland Park. It is constructed of stucco and stands three storeys high, with an attic and basement. The house has a symmetrical facade of three bays, arranged 1:1:1. The ground floor is characterised by channelling. Steps lead to a central entrance, sheltered by a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy, supported by Doric half columns. Two-storey canted bay windows are positioned on either side, featuring Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters also adorn the outer windows on the second floor, and a small balustraded balcony is situated above the central window. A rich cornice runs along the top of the building, above which sits a balustraded parapet incorporating three dormers – the two outer dormers are pedimented, while the central dormer includes chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor.
