Description

This is a detached house dating from 1862, constructed as part of the planned layout of Holland Park. The house is built of stucco and stands three storeys high, with an attic and basements. The symmetrical facade is three bays wide, arranged 1:1:1. The ground floor is characterised by channelling. Steps lead to a central entrance, sheltered by a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows flank the sides of the house, featuring Corinthian pilasters on the upper storey. Pilasters also frame the outer windows on the second floor, and a small balustraded balcony is situated above the central window. A decorative cornice runs along the top of the house, surmounted by a balustraded parapet which incorporates three dormers; the two outer dormers have pediments, while the central one has chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor.
