Description

19 Holland Park is a detached house built in 1862. It is constructed of stucco and stands three storeys high, with an attic and basement. The house has a symmetrical facade of three bays, arranged 1:1:1. The ground floor features channelling. Steps lead to a central entrance framed by Doric half columns. Canted bay windows extend two storeys, and are embellished with Corinthian pilasters on the upper storey. Pilasters also decorate the outer windows on the second floor. A small balustraded balcony is situated above the central window. A rich cornice runs around the building, topped by a balustraded parapet which incorporates three dormers—the two outer ones are pedimented, while the central one has chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor. The house was originally part of the planned layout for Holland Park.
