Description

Terraced houses located at 138-146 Caledonian Road, built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond with stucco detailing. The roofs are slate for numbers 140 and 144, while numbers 138 and 146 have 20th-century tiles, and number 142 is obscured by a parapet. The buildings rise three storeys over a basement. Numbers 138 and 146 each have one window, while the others have two windows. Numbers 140-144 feature steps leading up to a round-arched entrance, which is flanked by panelled pilasters and a fanlight with decorative glazing. All windows have gauged brick heads, with round-arched windows on the ground floor and a stucco sill band. The first and second floors have flat-arched windows, with individual cast-iron balconies on the first floor. Numbers 138 and 146 are slightly set forward and have flat-arched entrances on the left and right sides. They also feature elliptical-arched windows on the ground floor set beneath an elliptical arch of gauged brick, flat-arched windows on the first floor under a round arch of gauged brick, and a parapet with stacks on the party walls.
