Description

These are terraced houses located at 48-100 Shepperton Road, built around 1830. They are constructed from yellow brick in Flemish bond and feature stucco, with roofs made of Welsh and artificial slate. Except for number 96, the houses are arranged in pairs with linked, recessed entrance bays. They are two storeys high with a basement and generally have three windows each, although numbers 48-50 have four windows each, and numbers 84-92 and 96-98 share a single window in the recessed entrance bay. Numbers 94 and 100 have two windows each.

The basement features a cambered arch, and there are steps leading up to a round-arched entrance. Most entrances have quarter columns, a cornice, and a fanlight, although numbers 48-50 and 54 lack quarter columns; number 54 has decorative glazing in the fanlight. Number 70 has fluted pilasters set obliquely, while number 80 lacks quarter columns. Numbers 82-94 have pilasters, with fluted pilasters on numbers 84, 90, and 94. Numbers 94-98 include single-storey porches with a cornice on consoles and an overlight.

Several original panelled doors remain, including those at numbers 58, 60, 66, 68, and 96. The ground-floor windows are round-arched with gauged brick heads set in a recessed round-arched panel, except for numbers 96-100, which have flat-arched windows with gauged brick heads. There is a sill band at the first floor, except for numbers 48-50 and 96, while the upper windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads. The hipped roof features a projecting party wall that carries stacks. Some original sash windows remain, with radiating glazing bars or 4/6 glazing on the ground floor, and 6/6 sashes on the first floor of number 64.
