Description

Numbers 11-14 Duncan Terrace are a group of terraced houses dating from circa 1820. They are constructed of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond, with stucco detailing, and have roofs of Welsh and artificial slate. The houses are four storeys high with a basement, and each has two windows.

The front features a round-arched entrance with a gauged brick head. The entrances to numbers 11 and 12 have fluted and slightly coved pilasters with enriched stops, number 13 has Corinthian pilasters, and number 14 has fluted quarter columns. A cornice runs above the entrance. Fanlights are present above the doors, those at numbers 11 and 12 featuring decorative glazing. The original design panelled doors are found at numbers 11 and 12.

Ground-floor windows are round-arched, set within a recessed round-arched panel with gauged brick head and stucco sill and springing bands. Iron balconies are attached to numbers 11, 13, and 14. Second-floor windows have a flat arch with a gauged brick head. The upper windows throughout feature 6/6 sash windows of the original design. Number 11 has a ground-floor sash with arched glazing bars and margin lights.

A parapet tops the front elevation, with dormers present on all the houses. Stacks are located within the party walls. The area railings have spearhead and urn finials.
