Description

Numbers 72-84 (even) on Halton Road are terraced houses built around 1820. They are constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond with stucco, and most roofs are hidden by a parapet. The houses are three storeys tall above a basement, except for numbers 82-84, which do not have a basement, and each house features two windows. The round-arched entrances have gauged brick heads and plain doorcases, with cornices and fanlights. Numbers 74-78 have decorative glazing, and the doors of numbers 72-82 are of original design. Number 72 also has a side entrance on Braes Street with a plain stucco architrave. The ground floor of number 84 has been rendered. The ground-floor windows are round-arched with gauged brick heads, while the first- and second-floor windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads, featuring sashes of original design in numbers 72 (first floor), 74 (second floor), 76 (first and second floor), 78 (second floor), and 80 (second floor). Each first-floor window has an individual iron balcony. The houses have a parapet, and number 82 features dormers in a slated mansard roof. There are cast-iron railings in front of the area.
