Description

These are a pair of semi-detached houses located in Islington, dating from around 1850. They are built of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond, with stucco detailing and a slate roof. The houses are three storeys high, with a basement, and each has a two-bay principal front, alongside a recessed entrance wing.

The basement is stuccoed and designed to resemble ashlar stonework; a stucco band separates the basement from the ground floor. Ground-floor and first-floor windows have flat arches, with moulded architraves to the ground floor and an additional cornice supported by consoles on the first floor. A brick string course runs above the first floor, and the eaves are boxed. Each house has a full dormer window with a segmental arched window beneath a broken pediment. A party wall extends above the roofline, supporting a central stack. The single-storey entrance wings are recessed and accessed by steps leading to a flat-arched entrance flanked by pilasters with an entablature and blocking course; these entrances feature panelled doors and overlights.
