Description
Number 54 is a detached house located on Canonbury Road, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of yellow brick set in Flemish bond with stucco, and its roof is obscured by a parapet. The house has two storeys above a basement and is three bays wide, featuring a double-fronted design. The basement is stuccoed, and there are iron railings on either side of the steps leading up to an elliptical-arched entrance. This entrance includes a doorcase with attached fluted Ionic columns, an entablature, a fanlight, and a panelled door that retains its original design.
The ground-floor windows are round-arched with gauged brick heads and original design sashes, set within a round-arched recessed panel of brickwork that also has gauged brick heads. There is a sill band for the first-floor windows, which are flat-arched with gauged brick heads and original design sashes that include margin lights. The house features a stucco cornice and a blocking course, with stacks located on the side walls. On the south-west side, there is a single-storey stuccoed extension that includes a door and a window, both adorned with moulded architraves and cornices on consoles.
