Description
Number 42 is a terraced house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of yellow brick set in Flemish bond with stucco, and the roof is obscured by a parapet. The building has three storeys over a basement and features a four-window range, making it double-fronted. There are steps leading up to a stuccoed porch, which has a flat-arched entrance flanked by pairs of plain pilasters and an entablature. The doorcase includes sidelights and an overlight. All the windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads and recessed sashes, with a 6/6 configuration except for those on the ground floor. A storey band runs between the ground and first floors, and the parapet has been largely rebuilt. The area is enclosed by railings with simple spearhead finials.
