Description
No. 154 Caledonian Road is a detached house built around 1820, with significant restoration work completed around 1990. The building features multi-coloured stock bricks laid in Flemish bond, with stucco applied to some parts of the sides and rear elevations. The roof is obscured, and there are brick stacks on the end walls.
The house has a centre-hall entrance plan and stands three storeys tall, with a double-fronted design that includes a three-window range on the front elevation. The sides have plain brick return walls, while the rear exhibits scattered fenestration.
Steps lead up to the entrance, which features a gauged-brick round-arched doorway flanked by 20th-century pilaster jambs, along with a door and fanlight. The ground floor has gauged-brick segmental arches above 8/8 sash windows set in brick recesses. The first and second floors are adorned with gauged-brick flat arches over 4/8 sash windows, a dentilled brick cornice, and a brick parapet. The rear elevation contains a mix of 8/8 and 4/8 sashes. The brickwork has undergone extensive rebuilding and patching.
