Description
No. 61 Coton Road is a house, now used as a social activities centre, built around 1830-1840, with a small 19th-century addition set back on the right and later additions to the rear. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a painted moulded wood cornice. It has a plain-tile roof and brick end stacks. The house has a central staircase plan and is two storeys high with a three-window main range and a one-window addition, creating a symmetrical appearance. The main entrance has a recessed plain 20th-century door, framed by a painted moulded wood doorcase with reeded pilaster strips. The entablature above features moulded lozenges above the pilasters and three larger horizontally-set lozenges, topped with a thin pediment. The windows include 16-pane and a central 12-pane sash, all with painted rusticated rendered flat arches and keyblocks. The addition is in a similar style and has a 20th-century door with an overlight. The interior has not been inspected.
