Description
No. 40 Rosebery Avenue is a terraced house built around 1820-1830. It features multi-coloured stock brick in Flemish bond, a stucco basement, and plain stucco dressings around the entrance. The roof is a Welsh-slate mansard with a dormer. The house has a side-hall entrance plan that leads to a staircase for the upper floors. It stands three storeys high with a basement and attic, and has a two-window range. The entrance is round-arched and located to the right, with a plain stucco band above the door, fluted quarter-column jambs supporting a corniced head, a plain fanlight, and the original panelled door. The windows feature gauged-brick flat arches with 8/8 and 6/6 sash designs, and there is a brick course at the plain parapet.
