Description
This is a terrace of houses built in the 1820s and 1830s. The houses are numbered 11 to 63 (odd numbers) and are located on the west side of Matilda Street, Islington. They are constructed of brown stock brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings. The ground floors of numbers 35 to 41 have stucco finishes. The roof is not visible, and the houses have party-wall brick stacks.
The design follows a side-hall entrance plan, and each house is two storeys high with a basement. Each house features two windows. A low set of steps leads to an architraved entrance with pilaster jambs supporting a cornice, a plain fanlight, and a panelled door. The ground floor windows are 8/8 sashes with bracketed cornices. The first floor has a sill band below the 6/6 architraved sashes. Houses numbered 31 to 35 have full-height pilasters on their first floors. The building has a stucco cornice with a band below and a blocking course above. Attached iron railings are present.
