Description
No. 214 Caledonian Road is a former public house built in the mid-19th century. The building is finished in stucco and has a roof that is obscured by a parapet. It consists of a main block that is three storeys high, with a two-storey wing to the north. The principal facades facing Caledonian Road and Copenhagen Street each have two windows, while the north wing also has two windows.
The ground floor features a pub front with a flat-arched entrance that has an overlight at the north end, along with a curved corner entrance. Other original entrances have been blocked. The facade includes broad and narrow windows set between Corinthian pilasters, with a panelled plinth and fascia. The main block has chamfered quoins at the corners above the ground floor. The first-floor windows are adorned with architraves and pediments on consoles, while the second-floor windows have architraves and cornices on consoles. The cornice and parapet are topped with a raised section in the form of a pediment, which is inscribed with sunk lettering that reads 'THE MILFORD HAVEN'. The north wing features quoins and first-floor windows with architraves and cornices on consoles, along with a cornice and blocking course.
Inside, there are no surviving features of interest except for a boarded dado and a central cast-iron Corinthian column.
