Description
Hope Cottages, built in 1844 as indicated by a worn plaque at the second floor level, is a pair of two-storey buildings with an attic. Each building has one window in the main block and a slightly set back one-window entrance bay. Number 204 has one storey, while number 206 has two. The cottages are constructed of grey brick, featuring brick angles and paired centre pilasters, along with a shallow pedimented gable facing the road. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are adorned with moulded architraves, except for the ground floor of number 206, which has casement windows. The ground floor also features console bracketed cornices. A central stucco panel holds a niche with a shell hood and pedestal. The doors are topped with rectangular fanlights and surrounded by a stuccoed entablature. Numbers 204 to 212 (even) form a group.
