Description
Holly Cottage likely began as two cottages, now divided into three. Numbers 2 and 3 date from the early 19th century, while number 1 was built in the mid-19th century. The ground floor is built of brick in English bond, while the first floor has rendered timber framing. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The cottages are two storeys high with an attic. Number 1 has a flint base, while numbers 2 and 3 have brick bases. A Mansard roof is present. There are ridge stacks, one at the left end of number 2, and a smaller one at the right end of number 3. Number 1 features a large dormer with a hipped roof and two sash windows on the first floor. Numbers 2 and 3 together have two small hipped dormers, a two-storey canted bay window on the left, and a first-floor sash window with glazing bars on the right. A panelled door, raised three steps and sheltered by a hood with a triangular pediment supported by carved brackets is located at the right end of number 1. Number 2 has a similar panelled door to the right of the canted bay. A boarded door is in the rear lean-to of number 3. A rear lean-to extends along the entire row, and was possibly added later. The cottages are listed due to their group value.
