Description

This is a terrace of eleven houses, numbers 2 to 22, built around 1850 by J Burden. The houses are constructed of stucco, with rusticated detailing to the ground floors. They are three storeys high, with basements, and each house has two windows, except for numbers 6 and 16, which have one window each, and number 22, which has three. Each house features a pedimented, prostyle portico with pilasters at the angles and round-arched side openings. The doorways have cornice heads, fanlights, and panelled doors. The windows are recessed sash windows; the ground floor windows have margin glazing, and some have cast-iron window guards. The first floor casement windows have console-bracketed pediments – segmental at numbers 6 and 16 – and cast-iron balconies. A cornice and blocking course run along the top of the facades. The interiors were not inspected. Attached cast-iron railings are present to the front areas.
